Highly targeted free traffic generation is a skill that can be learned by anyone, trust me, anyone! If you’re involved in a network marketing business please don’t listen to an up-line unless they can genuinely prove to you they have the skills to drive traffic and generate leads on-line, just because they happen to have been recruited before you doesn’t make them an expert or a leader. If they start talking to you about drawing up a list and talking to your friends and family then just quietly conclude they just haven’t a clue how to build a business post Internet, are sadly delusional or worse are flat out lying to you.

I’m not saying this will be easy and it won’t happen overnight but if you truly have the desire to succeed then learning these skills really won’t be a problem, the benefits you will gain in terms of the professional marketing knowledge and your attractiveness to others, seeking to work with ‘someone who knows how to’ build a business on-line, will be more than worth the effort.

I think you may have guessed by now, this is not going to be the conventional way that we are all taught how to build a business, in fact I’ll go so far as to say this approach to building a network marketing business will be the norm as the industry adapts to the Internet. I have been and am involved in businesses that are still stuck in the past in terms of marketing and consequently find themselves stagnating and not growing the way they should or could.

My first suggestion is that you do not buy leads, this is a very lazy approach and response from your ‘leaders’, very expensive, time consuming and low quality way to build your business. I’ll stop there now, I’ll wage war on this topic another day! The methods of marketing I normally teach out and that I recommend everyone start with are marketing methods that are completely free, they just take drive and an ability to learn, and for you to take action applying what you’ve learned.

Just using free traffic generation methods, I believe you can easily build in time, up to 30-50 leads per day once your content is established on-line. Some of the methods that will work very well are article marketing, forums, some social bookmarking, podcast and video marketing all driving traffic to your blog and lead capture pages.

I stumbled upon a very interesting article outlining a method employed that garnered over 170 retweets, a mention on the high profile site Copyblogger and approximately 2000 visitors to his web-site, I thought this may be worth investigating! I like it, please read on… He goes on to outline an effective social media strategy which looks pretty easy to implement. Here are some ideas for article marketing that attract attention and generate traffic. If you’ve spent any time around the big social media, bookmarking sites or any of the content syndication sites you’ll see certain types of headlines that attract attention and generate traffic. What I’ve seen over time is a definite pattern emerging.

Headline and content based around the following seem to work very well;

• 7 Ways to…
• 3 Biggest mistakes followed by solutions.
• Tips and tricks, again based around problems and then provide the solutions.
• How to… education
• Myths debunked
• Secrets revealed

Headlines need to be enticing you can incorporate the above in ways such as…

• “3 Exercises to Get that 6 Pack in the next 30 Days Guaranteed”
• “7 Easy Ways to Generate Traffic With Article Marketing”
• “7 Easy Ways to Turn Leads into Paying Customers”
• “Top 10 Ways to Increase Traffic With Article Marketing”
• “10 Network Marketing Myths Debunked Once and For All”
• “Article Marketing Attraction Secrets Revealed That Will Transform Your Business in 60 Days or Less”

You get the picture, once you get going it you’ll find it easy to create more web copy of your own.

This is something I tend to struggle with, try to limit your article to around 300-400 words, I certainly seem to find this easier with posts on a blog, which tend to be much more concise, if you hit around 600-800 try editing it, you may find that there are two articles in there, maybe problem/solution one and problem/solution two for example, try and break the information, potential solutions and ideas into smaller more digestible chunks if at all possible.

There is reasoning behind this, it seems the 300-400 word articles get a better click through and response rate, there seems to be a general attention deficit among many people, they seem to want solutions fast and results now.

You just have to go with what works and it seems that the shorter article wins out. If you think about it the longer the article the further away your bio box is with your all important link. It’s all well and good to increase traffic with article marketing but you have to lead people through to your bio box and your all important links and call to action.

Another point worth mentioning is that in my opinion people generally on the internet are not there to be entertained they are, more often than not looking for a solution and if you can deliver it quickly or point them in the right direction without any fuss you’ll both be happy, you’ll get the traffic through you bio link and they’ll get their solution.

A free classified advertising online marketing strategy is a very useful way to create high-quality back links into your primary website or blog, it is also a fantastic way of increasing exposure to you, your opportunity, or your products and services.

Your copy in this case would be extremely short in comparison to article marked, probably the equivalent of no more than a paragraph or two. The trick to ranking well is to optimise for your particular keywords, creating a keyword rich and compelling headline, followed by strong, concise and solution orientated body copy.

In terms of the headline to entice action, offer something for free… maybe a free report on Internet traffic generation for example. Headlining with the promise of a benefit works very well e.g. Recruit 10 Represent the Next 30 Days. Another tack would be to make it newsworthy to your particular market e.g. Major Breakthrough in Lead Generation.

Many great ideas can be taken from the advertising world, in general traditional ad copy from print media doesn’t translate well on the Internet, as most aspects of the Internet tend to now to be more social, and being sold to a social context in its traditional way is very repelling.

That said people expect to be sold to when browsing classified advertising online as they would off-line, so you can get away with using more traditional off-line sales copy within the classified directories. Some of the best places to look for compelling advertising therefore is in this case with in the traditional print media and advertising.

A formula that seems to gain a lot of success is to tap into people’s need for a solution or on the other hand into people’s fears of failure or loss, both of very powerful at triggering a response.

In summary a successful approach would be to lead with the desire or need that your target market may have, followed by the ‘how to get’ the desire satisfied all really disillusioned for that need.

The second approach outlined earlier would be in the form of your target markets remain a fear or pain, closely followed with help to alleviate that feel pain.

This then allows you to lead people through your copy to your call of action. Click here, enter your details, by now, purchased this, etc. If at this point you do actually tell people what to do you’ll find that people tend to follow your written instructions.

In conclusion, if you’ve done your job properly, you’ll both get what you want, you a lead or a sale your prospect a solution or desire satisfied, or a problem solved.

The source of these leads and the high quality may surprise you, don’t be put off by some people’s bad experiences who say that you need to have huge sums of money to produce leads of any worth, this just isn’t true. You really can actually market effectively for free, this isn’t a myth, trust me, if you’re prepared to learn and put in a great deal of consistent work on a daily basis then you can create a large number of free highly targeted leads for your internet marketing business. Aside from your helpfulness and expertise in providing solutions on the forums, you need to focus particular attention on your signature file, you’ll need to construct a very effective catch line to maximise your click through rate, you’ll likely only have between 2 to 5 lines to work with. There’s a typical tendency to resort to the usual worn out old ad copy “I’m an ad read me!” With this type of approach you don’t stand much of a chance on the Internet, it likely will not get read. (It’s a strange paradox because off-line, in traditional media, this type of advertising copy and advertisement works very well). The aim here is to stand apart from the inexperienced crowd, avoid hyperbola, exclamation marks, capital letters and multiple colours, which smacks of amateurism or spam.

You’ll need to feature something of interest to your market, it should be something of genuine value or newsworthy in some way. You can get some great ideas from magazines editorial headlines or blurb headlines used on glossy magazine covers. This copywriting can be adapted to your purposes and has been thoroughly tested and split tested so as to effectively produce results, you would likely only need to rework them in a very minor way to meet your own requirements… for example 7 Secrets of Attraction Marketing Revealed, Read More Here… 9 Facts Why Most Network Marketing Businesses Fail Learn More Here…

You get the picture, get creative, get ideas and inspiration from the editorial copy of magazines and newspapers, remember as mentioned earlier not from the advertising copy of traditional media, they’ve done a lot of work and have a lot of experience in writing compelling headlines that catch peoples attention and compel people to take action, which is exactly the result you want.

Now you’ve created your editorial style “hook” in your signature, with a link back to your information, solution, article or blog, simply just enter the conversation by contributing to the overall discussion, providing help and solutions to fellow members. As mentioned earlier “never overtly promote your business” If you do you’ll likely get flamed, chastised in no uncertain terms and could face the likelihood of getting booted out of the forum if you persist.

Isn’t that old hat now, people talking to their friends and family, badgering everyone within arms reach about the latest and greatest amazonian berry cleansing intestinal detox, that will add ten years to their life, whiten their teeth and walk their dog whilst they sleep! Yes there are a lot of wild claims out there and wild ‘marketing methods’ being taught too within the network marketing industry.

Yes the ‘old school methods’ are old hat and are not really that effective anymore and to be honest never really were. On the other hand network marketing is far from old hat, the power of leverage and the potential that brings an individual to significantly increase his or her income way beyond the limits of a job, it’s 40 hour work week and the hourly rate will never loose it’s appeal or potential.

I believe network marketing is in a transitional period as more and more people realise the potential of networking and marketing through the internet, especially if you are operating a global opportunity as many of us are, the speed at which you could grow both your income and organisation can be nothing short of breath-taking. So seek out good mentors and educate yourself in ‘real’ marketing, invest in yourself and invest in the tools that will help you build your business.

I’ll emphasise again, look for a good mentor, someone who has recently and successfully conquered the art and science of internet marketing and applied it to their network marketing businesses, this will save you a lot of time, money and frustration. You need to learn a lot so be prepared for an education, but it will be worth it.

You’ll need to learn basic front end and back-end web-development, how to create useful content, how to distribute it. How to create free and paid traffic and direct it to your sites, how to create a funded proposal to help maximise the profit and minimise the expense of building a targeted list of prospects on-line for your products, services and or businesses.

Submitting to the podcast directories is another way to extend your reach and increase traffic to your blog you’re also guaranteed to generate more listings in the search engines, sometimes in minutes! In turn you’ll be creating very high quality back-links to help you obtain better organic listings for your blog which again will lead to an increase in traffic. I suggest you add podcast marketing to you overall marketing strategy. Here’s a simple idea how to do this…

If you can write an article then you can create a podcast, if fact why not create and audible version of your best content, purchase a USB mic or even use your own in built in microphone within your laptop, press record and read aloud. If you are genuinely interested and passionate about your subject, aims, goals and aspirations then this will show in your voice, along with your content this passion will be very attractive to your target audience.

I want you to begin by installing the WordPress plugin ‘podPress’ this will enable you to set a player within your blog giving your visitors access to your audio content, not only this but it will allow you to set up an iTunes feed URL allowing you to hit the big-time and get distributed through Apples mighty iTunes store, you can do all this from within the plugin settings in WordPress, when you’re ready it connects you to the stores directory via the iTunes application. The plugin also allows you to create a standard RSS feed URL for distribution to other directories helping to extend your reach even further.

The next piece of software I recommend is audacity on a PC or if you’re on a Mac you could quite as easily use Garage Band which has the ability to produce podcasts built in… You can use royalty free music or free Apple loops, creating ‘jingles’ in Garage Band as intro’s or as transitions between topics and as closing music to your podcast.

A Basic format would be as follows:

• Show opening using royalty free music or better the built in Apple loops in Garage Band
• You’re introduction a bit about yourself what you do and your aims for your listeners
• Headline and deliver your topic try and stick to no more than 5 mins.
• Follow up with multiple topics if you’re so inclined. Again all no more than 5 mins.
• Enter your closing remarks.
• Close with your music jingle… same as opening jingle.
